Vocational education

Caboolture Special School’s - Vocational Technical Education (VTE) offers a wide variety of educational opportunities through The Orange Project – creating Esteemed Partnerships.
Students are developing their vocational, technical, literacy, numeracy, social and safety skills in a diverse range of contexts.
The Caboolture Community Specialist Trade Skills Centre (CCSTSC) was opened in 2016. The CCSTSC consists of a specially constructed building of over 500 square meters and the upgraded Hospitality building.
These buildings and their specialist equipment are part of our resources for the delivery of our vocational technical education for our students, staff and our wider community members.
Our comprehensive specialised resources allow ongoing delivery of Hospitality, Horticulture, Electro-communication and Active Volunteering courses. We hold two Commonwealth Government - ACMA – Australian Communication and Media Authority licences – VK4HBU our very own Amateur Radio Club Licence and VLB327 our very own Maritime Coast Station Licence. These two licences, plus our specialist radio communication equipment for Amateur Radio, Marine Radio and UHF CB Radio allow us to resource our student and community learning in innovative ways.
We can operate our vocational technical education within the school grounds or outside in the broader community with four purpose built trailers – Hospitality Blue, Horticulture Yellow and Electro-communications Red plus a large Mobile Cold Room. Our Mobile Cold Room and our Radio Communications equipment can be field run by our generators, solar power panels, batteries and inverter for special events, emergency and disaster situations in the community.
Our Esteemed Partnerships
We provide first aid courses for staff and students in an Esteemed Partnership with the Royal Life Saving Society of Queensland (RTO Code 5431).
We are able to conduct marine radio courses and invigilate the licence assessment process for the Australian Maritime College (AMC) – which is part of the University of Tasmania.
Our Amateur Radio courses are conducted in Esteemed Partnerships with our local Amateur Radio Clubs – Redcliffe and District Radio Club, Caboolture Radio Club and the Sunshine Coast Amateur Radio Club whose members have over the past 13 years welcomed our students and staff to their Clubs.
We work closely with our Esteemed Partners to deliver our Vocational and Technical Education outcomes. TAFE Queensland (RTO Code 0275) is our Esteemed Partner for the delivery of our Hospitality and Horticulture courses. Volunteering Queensland Inc. (RTO Code 6020) is our Esteemed Partner for our Active Volunteering courses.
We have many treasured Esteemed Partnerships that have endured the essence of time and space. The Caboolture Historical Village has many volunteers who have worked in an Esteemed Partnership with our school community since 2006 providing a huge variety of work experiences for our students. We look forward to working with our community by maintaining and creating many other Esteemed Partnerships.
